Capital Execution
EXECUTED (1989)
Theodore “Ted” Bundy was one of the most prolific serial killers in American history, responsible for the abduction, rape, and murder of numerous young women and girls during the 1970s. His crimes spanned multiple states, and his public trials drew unprecedented media coverage.
Following his capture in Florida, Bundy was sentenced to death for the Chi Omega sorority murders. He was executed by electric chair at Florida State Prison on January 24, 1989.
Bundy declined the opportunity to request a special final meal. Consequently, he was served the standard prison meal protocol for that day, which he reportedly did not consume:
- Steak (medium-rare)
- Eggs
- Hash browns
- Toast
Unlike many high-profile inmates who utilize the final meal request as a symbolic gesture or a final indulgence, Bundy’s decision to decline a specific order aligned with the detachment he displayed during the final hours of his incarceration.
